The Bluum Maxi Log Store is designed to suit the larger garden, with ample storage for around 0.84m3 of firewood whilst adding subtle beauty to your outside space.

A kindling shelf can be added if required, half- or full-width.  This will be positioned around two-thirds of the way up, unless otherwise requested.

Also available with an open back panel (using minimal cladding), for those looking for a lower cost alternative.  This may be suitable if the Log Store is going up against a wall or fence, for example.

Green Roof

The roof area of the Maxi Log Store comes fully prepared with a sealed waterproof membrane to keep the water away from the firewood storage area, our unique drainage solution to take excess water away from the plants, another membrane to keep any substrate/soil inside the green roof area, and free capillary matting to help keep the vegetation moist and looking great.

It is well suited to many plants including sedum / succulents, alpine plants, wildflowers, grasses and herbs.

Assembly

Assembly of this log storage unit should take the average DIY-er less than 30 minutes, as this store comes flat-packed in easy panels. All you then need to do is add the plants of your choice, store your logs and sit back to admire the view.

*Whilst the weight of your Maxi Log Store and its contents will stop it from moving on its own, we would always recommend securing it to a wall, floor or similar solid structure, to avoid any risk of it tipping over (for example if children climb on it).

The store must be positioned on a level, solid surface.

Are plants included?

No plants are included with the Bluum Stores garden storage units (including the bin & recycling stores, bike storage and log storage units), however, you can use a wide selection of plants / vegetation in the living green roof planting area.

Are these made in the UK?

Yes! All products are proudly and lovingly made in the UK. This includes ALL of our ranges: bin & recycling storage, bike & scooter shelters, log & firewood storage, compost bins, garden planters, water butt planters, living wall planters, dipping tanks, wildflower products and more.

Can I paint it?

Once fully dry, the wood can be stained or painted with a suitable exterior wood product.

Your new Bluum Stores garden store, bin & recycling store, bike shelter, log store or timber compost bin or garden planter is made with pressure treated redwood; this is designed for a long life outdoors as well as a beautiful appearance. This wood can appear a little damp when it first arrives (from the treatment process), so it is best to allow your bin & recycling store, bike store or log store to dry fully before painting or staining it.

Adding some colour to your new wheelie bin & recycling store, bike shelter, log store, timber compost bin or garden planter can help to match it in with the other colours in your garden design. If you choose to leave your wheelie bin & recycling store, bike shelter or log store its natural colour, it will still blend in to any outdoor setting. The timber tends to 'silver' over time, giving it a beautiful and natural look.

Do I need to treat or stain the wood before assembly?

No, the store is constructed from pressure-treated redwood timber, designed for a long life outside.  There is no immediate need to use any treatment/stain unless you wish to change the colour of the wood to suit your outside space.  We do recommend that it is given an extra regular coat of exterior timber preservative in the future, to help it stay in great shape for many years to come.

This applies to all Bluum Stores wheelie bin & recycling storage, bike and scooter shelters and log storage units, as well as our timber range of compost bins and garden planters.

How does excess water drain from the roof?

Each green roof planter has our unique in-built drainage system, sitting in the lowest part of the roof.  This keeps all substrate in place while allowing any excess water to escape and fall free of the front of the store.

Our living green roof planters feature on all of these Bluum Stores products: bin & recycling stores, bike shelters / storage, and log storage units.

How easy is assembly?

This should take you no longer than 30-45 minutes, even for the largest of stores.  Full instructions are provided, nearly all screws are already in place, and all you will need is a power screwdriver and spirit level.  We do recommend that protective gloves and eyewear are worn for safety during assembly, and that two people can be required to lift the larger panels.

All of the Bluum Stores range of wheelie bin / dustbin & recycling box stores, bike shelters and log stores are made with quick & simple assembly in mind.

What wood is this made from?

All of the Bluum Original timber products (including bin & recycling storage, bike & scooter shelters, log stores and the beehive style compost bins and garden planters) are made with pressure treated redwood cladding.

This durable material is not only lovely to look at, it is also treated to withstand the wild variety of weather conditions that we face in the UK. It's designed for a very long life outdoors, with little maintenance.

The timber we use is also much thicker and heavier than that used by many other companies in our sector. It's not cheap, but it is made to last. It is also sourced from FSC and PEFC accredited sources.

Your bin & recycling store, bike & scooter shelter, log store, beehive style compost bin or garden planter is already treated so needs no immediate attention. In the future, it is a good idea to add a regular coat of exterior wood preservative, to help it live for even longer.

Why should I buy a Bluum log store?

Logs aren't the easiest things to store... they often end up cluttering garages or utility rooms and are difficult to get in & out past other household items. They also need a good amount of air flow to season properly before burning.

The 'green roof' range of Bluum Stores log & firewood storage units are designed to neatly tidy away your logs / firewood / kindling as well as providing a living green roof planting area on top. The living green roof planter provides extra green space for your garden; increased biodiversity, eco-friendly and very nice to look at! Most of the time you'll barely notice the logs / firewood / kindling inside :)

The open front provides easy access to your logs, and the slatted sides provides extra air flow to help season your firewood and kindling effectively. The log shelter will keep them tidy and dry, with no 'faff' when you want to get them in & out.
